In Accursed Son by Eric Avedissian, Armand Tarkanian owes Berj money after a car accident. Berj is a fascinating stranger with gold teeth engraved with runes. Armand feels more confined and helpless now than he did when he was under his uncle’s control. Armand is being blackmailed and is forced to accept a job from Berj. However, Armand has a deadly family curse that gives him the ability to speak with the dead. While embalming the bodies, their spirits reveal to Armand how they were murdered. Armand must decide whether to submit to the sadistic and cunning Berj or join the Legion of the Lamb, a biker group that hunts monsters and has its own goals. Armand embarks on a terrifying journey to save the only family he has ever known and has a chance to get closer to the Legion of the Lamb.

Accursed Son is a dark and complex horror story. Eric Avedissian took me on a roller coaster ride of murder, horror, humor, and romance. The story is fast-paced and jam-packed with action. I was drawn into a dark and creepy world. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. I could not put the book down and turned the pages as fast as I could. The events were descriptive and vivid, and it was easy to visualize the talking ghosts. The characters were well-developed and authentic. My favorite character is Armand. He met a black woman at a funeral and respects her profession as a stripper because he saw her as a person, not a sex worker. The story is brilliantly written, and it was interesting to learn about Armenian culture.
